• Question: What is involved in a PhD Researcher?

      It’s unlike anything I’ve done leading up to it. All through school and then uni you’re just learning the result of other people’s work and, in principle, someone knows the answer, you just need to find it.

      When you start doing research all that changes, no one knows the answer, at best you might be able to find someone who’s answered a similar question or can give you an idea of how to find the answer, but until you find it it’s unknown.

      This is true of all research, everyone from PhD students like me to the highest professor, we all have questions we’re trying to answer. As a PhD student I get support from people with more experience (which is always the case, but a LOT of people have more experience than me!).
