Hopefully not. One of the things I’m doing is trying to identify the easiest, most efficient way of producing neutrons. The more efficiently you do it the cheaper it’ll be.
Of course “expensive” is a very relative term. For the sake of argument let’s say it costs £2million to detect 1 bomb and 1 batch of drugs per year, but if that bomb would destroy a skyscraper and the drugs kill a dozen people that £2million price tag becomes well worth while.
