      Because it’s fun!

As a scientist you get to work out how the universe works and how all the things in it work. It’s awesome! There’s nothing better than finding out that no one else has answered a question you’re working on, and then finding the answer 🙂

Being a scientist is about understanding how the world works and how the universe came to be. It is a fantastic way to answer really deep questions about existence and to join with nature at its core.

It is also a great way to play with big expensive toys and tell people what to do! I feel like a kid all the time with the power of a grown up.

It is a calling, it is a passion. I am really happy about all that I see everyday and I am always amazed by what is left to discover. It is a fantastic feeling!

Being a scientist is fantastic because I get to spend my days finding out what the building blocks of the universe are and doing experiments! Also, I work at CERN which is a very exiting place to be for particle and nuclear physics right now. We’re searching for so many interesting answers to questions like “where has all the antimatter gone?” and “what is dark matter?”.

I’m not saying that it’s not hard work, because you do have to study to be a scientist, but it’s very rewarding and it’s so interesting that sometimes I forget that this is my job!
